Hi, I’m Hellen Kimaru

A Kenyan social entrepreneur, a poet, and an advocate for the empowerment of youth, women and girls. 

I am passionate about, a just and inclusive world. Youth empowerment through Education, Skills Training and Access to Opportunities are how I see all of us breaking the glass ceiling and especially for marginalized youth. This has been reflected in my work over the years as I try to ensure the youth, women, and girls, and especially from marginalized groups.

In 2017, I co-founded Hyrac Tech , a social tech company that is focused on empowering people with the resources and education they need to succeed in these digital generation. Over a period of 3 years, we worked with communities in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Cameroon. We directly impacted 5000 school going children with our programs.

In 2019, I founded LatitudeZero Opportunities , a social company that provides skills training to young people to prepare them to start businesses or be job market ready. Here, our programs have included Virtual Assistant Training, Photography, Bead-Working, Digital Literacy and Storytelling, Social Media Management.

I have been directly involved in various initiatives and organizations that aim to improve the lives of vulnerable communities as an employee, consultant and social entrepreneur. These include: the Global Give Back Circle, Starehe Foundation Inc, Kakenya Centre of Excellence and Waweza Movement

I am an alumnus of the Young Africa Leadership Initiative, and I have a Bachelors in Travel and Tours Operation Management.
